Waterville council authorizes online surplus sale and engineering for Anthony Wayne shared‑use path

The City of Waterville council voted to approve two resolutions at its Jan. 12 meeting.
Resolution 0126 authorizes the city to sell surplus personal property (including vehicles, road machinery and equipment) by Internet auction under Ohio law. Administrator John explained the annual authorization requirement under Ohio Revised Code § 721.15 and confirmed the city typically uses govdeals.com for online sales. The motion to adopt Resolution 0126 was moved and seconded and carried on a roll call vote.
Resolution 0226 authorizes the municipal administrator to enter into an agreement with Proudfoot Associates Inc. for engineering services to prepare plans, specifications and bid documents for an Anthony Wayne Trail shared‑use path extension. Administrator John said the project would extend approximately 4,300 feet on the west side of Anthony Wayne Trail between Canal Road and Dutch Road, is supported by a $392,000 grant, and currently carries an estimated construction cost of about $535,000. John said the city will coordinate schedules and connections with the county engineer and ODOT, noting the county’s planned roundabout at Dutch Road and Anthony Wayne Trail where the path will tie in. Council adopted Resolution 0226 by roll call.
Both resolutions were included in the 2026 capital budget as presented; staff said further submittals to ODOT and staged engineering work are planned for 2026–27.
