Debbie Hagedorn elected Monroe Local board president; Fulham chosen vice president as board finalizes 2026 appointments

During its 2026 organizational meeting on Jan. 12, the Monroe Local Board of Education elected Debbie Hagedorn as board president and selected Mister Fulham as vice president, then completed committee assignments and routine organizational business.

An unnamed board member nominated Debbie Hagedorn for president; the board closed nominations, and members verbally announced votes during roll call, electing Mrs. Hagedorn. "I would like to nominate Debbie Hagedorn as president," an unnamed board member said during the nomination period. Later, the board nominated and closed nominations for vice president and confirmed Mister Fulham.

The board approved slate appointments: legislative liaison Carpenter and Leeds; student achievement liaison Carpenter; Monroe Area CIC liaison Leeds; Butler Tech representative Brett Guido to remain; finance committee members Fulham and Grant (and Grant/Leeds references in the roll call); OSBA delegate Leeds with Tim Carpenter as alternate; and facility committee membership including Grant and Leeds. Trustees also approved routine items: the 2026 meeting calendar, waiver of reading the minutes, renewal of memberships for the Ohio School Boards Association, establishment of a $20,000 board service fund pursuant to the ORC reference cited in the motion, and designation of the Journal‑News as the district newspaper of record. Legal counsel recommendations (a panel of firms) were approved for general, bond and construction counsel.

All routine organizational motions were approved by roll call with unanimous support recorded. The organizational meeting was adjourned by acclamation and the board transitioned to its regular meeting.
