According to the presentation, the plan permits up to five e-learning days (no more than the number of emergency days), and during those days students receive five synchronous clock hours of instruction delivered through Google Classroom and Zoom. The district said teachers will take attendance and provide instruction; students have Chromebooks and the district can provide Wi-Fi hotspots to families who need them.
The plan also includes provisions for families who cannot access electronic materials: teachers will provide appropriate paper materials through direct communication with families. Communications about e-learning days will be issued in English and Spanish via the district website, automated calls, and email. After the presentation and confirmation that no public comments were submitted, a board member moved to approve the plan; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call.
The board recorded that the plan will be filed with the regional office of education as required by state procedure. The approval authorizes the district to use e-learning days in lieu of emergency days under the applicable school code provisions.
