Board adopts policy allowing course retakes and grade replacement (Policy 5129)

MSD Steuben County’s board adopted revised Policy 5129 at its Jan. 13 meeting, approving second reading language that allows students with a C+ or lower to retake courses and replace the prior grade with an R notation that does not factor into the school-level GPA.
Administration explained there were no changes to the proposal since it was introduced last month. The policy would apply at the school level to change transcript notation and grade calculation according to the board’s motion. A roll-call vote approved the policy.
Board members did not request further amendments during the meeting. The administration indicated the policy will be implemented at the school level following the board’s adoption.
