MSD Steuben County board hires custodial staff, introduces new food service director and approves mentorship

MSD Steuben County’s Board of Trustees approved multiple personnel actions at its Jan. 13 regular meeting, including the hiring of Michael Krueger to a custodial position and a slate of resignations, appointments and reassignments included in the personnel report.
Superintendent (as identified in the meeting packet) asked the board to approve Krueger for one of the district’s custodial positions; the board motioned and approved the hire by roll-call vote. The board then voted to accept the broader personnel report that listed other resignations and appointments.
The meeting included the public introduction of Kelly Poe as the district’s new food service director. Poe, who started the previous Monday, told trustees she was “just really excited to be here,” and administrators said she had already been working through audit tasks and was arriving with an upbeat approach.
To support Poe, the board approved enrollment in a mentorship program offered by the Northern Indiana Educational Service Center (NEISC). District leaders described the NEISC program as including weekly Zoom coaching with periodic in-person visits over the year to establish best practices in food service operations and said initial work during an audit produced useful improvements. The board approved the mentorship program by motion.
The motions to hire Krueger, accept the personnel package and enroll Poe in the NEISC mentorship all passed on roll-call votes.
