Board approves $1.15 million guaranteed maximum price for first-grade remodel and new corridor

The Stigler Board of Education approved bids and authorized assigning the contracts to the district's construction manager for a first-grade classroom remodel, roof replacement and a covered corridor project with a guaranteed maximum price of $1,148,458.
Administrators and John Humphrey of Stout Construction described the project scope: roof replacement and a new enclosed corridor/entry to connect classrooms so students will not be outside when moving between rooms. The recommended procurement approach packages trade bids into a consent agenda and delegates execution to the construction manager under the existing contract.
Officials said the GMP covers most trades; a few minor subcontract bids were still pending, and a district contingency (discussed during the meeting) will cover modest overages. The administration said the building fund will be used to pay for the project and estimated additional receipts (local/state sources cited generally) will help cover costs.
Board member Kenny Whitson moved to approve the recommended bids as presented and to assign approved bids to Stout Construction under the previously approved construction-management contract. The motions were seconded and approved on unanimous roll-call votes.
Trustees discussed future interior remodel work (bathrooms and finish work) and said those items will return to the board as additional bid packages. The board did not change project scope or funding sources at the meeting; it approved the current GMP and the assignment to the construction manager so work can move forward.
