City pushes small-group 'Be 2 Weeks Ready' workshops, plans inventory of emergency 'barrels'

Depoe Bay's emergency-preparedness committee told the council it will reschedule radio-training with Michael Daniels and instead host Michael Thomas for guidance and has begun planning small-group workshops around the state 'Be 2 Weeks Ready' program.
Speaker 8 said the program "gives you ways to chart information" and includes shelter, food and water planning plus practical exercises; the committee plans to offer smaller, hands-on sessions with binders so residents can work through the materials page by page. She said Kayla Tomlinson with the OEM is the channel to order program binders and supplies and that some demonstration items (toilet buckets and solar-oven concepts) are included with the program.
The committee will inventory existing emergency "barrels" to verify contents and condition and will evaluate replacing rusty storage locks. The committee proposed offering the presentation to city staff or bringing binders to community sessions; council thanked the volunteers and encouraged outreach at neighborhood events.
