Representatives from CLEAR and Colorado Car Share described a state grant opportunity to pilot a Western Slope electric-vehicle car-share program and asked Carbondale trustees whether staff should pursue the grant and a local Carbondale site.
Dova, identified as the clean-mobility program manager for CLEAR, said the proposed program would create six sites across the Western Slope — three in Grand Junction and three in Garfield County (Carbondale, Glenwood Springs and Rifle) — with Colorado Car Share as the likely lead applicant. The application window was described as opening in January and remaining open about 60 days; staff anticipated a February–March submission.
Trustees and staff discussed potential Carbondale locations (in front of town hall versus the rear lot), infrastructure needs including chargers, alignment with the town’s climate action and mobility goals, and options for income-qualified pricing and student discounts. Trustees expressed general support for the concept and encouraged staff to flush out how the project would meet local mobility, parking and climate priorities before the application is finalized.
No formal motion to fund or commit town resources was taken; staff said they would continue to work with Colorado Car Share and CLEAR on site selection and application details.
