Summary
HYA told the board the district received 16 applications (one withdrew) and the board selected five semifinalists; finalists (up to three) will visit the district on Jan. 28 for forums, tours and panels as part of the selection process.
Chandler — The board's contracted search firm, HYA, updated the governing board Wednesday on the national superintendent search timeline and next steps.
HYA reported the search received 16 initial applicants (one withdrew), of which the board reviewed 15 and selected five semifinalists for closed‑session interviews on Jan. 24. If the board selects finalists that day, up to three finalists will be invited to campus on Jan. 28 for school tours, panel interviews, and three open community forums (each finalist will take 45 minutes in a public forum); the board has scheduled a possible Jan. 29 deliberation if more time is needed.
HYA encouraged community participation in the Jan. 28 forums and directed stakeholders to an online input form already posted on the district website so questions and themes can be shared with finalists in advance. Board President Serrano and staff said the schedule will allow robust stakeholder engagement while keeping the board on track for a selection if they are ready after finalist visits.
