Mason Planning Commission swears in three members and elects leadership

At its Jan. 13 meeting the Mason Planning Commission swore in three commissioners, amended the agenda to allow a secretary election, and elected John Sabiden as chair, Alec Finley as vice chair and Margaret Loughlaner as secretary; minutes from Dec. 9 were approved 6-0.
The Mason Planning Commission on Jan. 13, 2026, swore in three commissioners and elected new leadership for the year. Alec Finley, Kenneth Bleasner and Kevin McCullough took the oath of office at the start of the meeting.
Commissioner Alec Finley moved to amend the agenda to add item 4(d), nomination and election of a secretary; the commission approved the amendment by voice vote, recorded as 6-0. Director Hudd then led brief introductions from commissioners and the council liaison, Scott Predmore, before opening nominations for chair, vice chair and secretary.
Alec Finley nominated John Sabiden for chair; Ken Bleasner seconded the nomination and Sabiden was elected by voice vote. Ken Bleasner nominated Alec Finley for vice chair; with no other nominations Finley was approved by voice vote. Margaret Loughlaner nominated herself for secretary and was elected by voice vote.
During the meeting commissioners also approved the minutes from the Dec. 9, 2025 meeting. Scott Predmore moved to approve the minutes and Ken Bleasner seconded; the motion passed 6-0.
Chair Sabiden thanked the commission and noted a procedural workshop would follow the meeting. No formal changes to commission policy were adopted at this session; the elections establish the commission’s leadership for its upcoming work on pending proposals.
