Council adopts multi-item consent agenda including grant application and contract amendment

The consent agenda included: - Ordinance 1-2026: approval to submit a grant application to the Barberton Community Foundation for up to $25,000 to support America 250 and the Barberton 135 celebration (emergency language requested); - Resolution 2-2026, 3-2026 and 4-2026: commendations recognizing former council members Thomas Haiduck (name transcribed variably), Taylor Thompson and Justin Greer for their service; and - Ordinance 5-2025: authorize purchase of a stormwater IBAC camera and accessories for $113,500 (emergency declared); - Ordinance 6-2025: amend the contract with Fetch Co Excavating to add $206,083.57 due to change orders, bringing the total contract amount to $5,047,474.49 (emergency declared).
Missus Gearhart moved and council seconded suspension of the charter rule to allow consideration; roll call returned affirmative votes from present members (Ward 3 vacant). Missus Gerhardt moved adoption of the consent agenda; the roll-call vote recorded affirmative votes from present members and the consent agenda items were adopted.
The council did not hold separate debate on the adopted items during the legislative session; several committee chairs had already placed the items on the consent agenda in committee. The ordinances and resolutions will be reflected in the official minutes and posted legislative packet with final signed documents.
