Erie County Council approves multiple salary ordinances, budget amendments and board appointments

Erie County Council on Jan. 13 approved a package of personnel and budget measures and confirmed several board appointments and audit resolutions.

Council amended several appointed-official salary ordinances to specify that outgoing officials will be paid wages in 2026 "from 01/01/2026 until and through their last day of employment with the county of Erie." Amendments to Ordinance No. 77 (director of human resources) and parallel provisions for director of finance and other appointed officials passed by recorded votes; for example, the amendment on Ordinance No. 77 passed by a 6–1 vote. Council also approved multiple budget revisions and supplemental appropriations, including a $608,920 supplement for a state food purchase plan contract with Second Harvest Food Bank and a $50,000 supplemental appropriation for central booking fees.

County Executive Christina Vogue, newly sworn and addressing council, said staff are establishing departmental liaisons and conducting tours of county facilities, adding: "We are so excited for the opportunity to serve Erie County, and we will do so thoughtfully and honestly and with open engagement with you all." The executive's remarks preceded several votes on personnel and budget measures.
