Boynton Beach — City staff presented a strategic‑plan update and demonstrated a Power BI performance dashboard on Jan. 20 designed to make project progress and departmental performance visible to commissioners and the public.
Gigi Shasu, economic development division director, summarized the plan’s four goals — financially sound city government, a strong local economy, a great place to live, and a safe, clean and attractive community — and provided baseline completion percentages for projects tied to each goal. "We are gonna have, at the beginning, 5 years of action, but 15 years of impact," Shasu said while outlining the plan’s timeline and the department’s role in aligning projects with the budget.
Commissioners praised the presentation and urged staff to provide regular updates. Vice Mayor Hay proposed biannual briefings every six months, and staff said the Power BI dashboard will be accessible to commissioners and the public for ongoing review. Commissioners also recommended including measurable indicators (for example, crime statistics, beautification reports or ticketing counts) in periodic updates so outcomes can be tracked empirically.
Staff said the dashboard will be refined and that annual or biannual updates will align the plan with budgeting cycles.
What happens next: Staff will continue to refine the Power BI tool, coordinate with department directors, and return periodic updates aligned with the budget process.
