The DeKalb County Drainage Board met Jan. 15 and completed its annual reorganization for the 2026 board year, approving officer appointments and routine administrative items.
Unidentified Speaker 2 called for nominations for chairman and vice chairman. After nominations and a voice vote, Jim Miller was selected as vice chairman; the board recorded the result by voice and the chair declared the motion carried. Rebecca Wright was nominated and approved as the board secretary for 2026. The board also moved and approved appointing Shannon Cruz as the drainage board attorney for the year.
The board approved the 2026 attorney contract (dates updated to Jan. 1–Dec. 31) as presented and voted to pay an attorney pre-claim of $1,295.00 for January 2026. Unidentified Speaker 1 noted the contract reflected only a date change from last year; the motion to approve the contract carried by voice vote.
