Yuma County names new Board of Supervisors auditorium for E.F. ‘Eugene’ Sanguinetti at grand opening

The Yuma County Board of Supervisors celebrated the opening of its new administration services building on Dec. 1 and formally dedicated the county’s Board of Supervisors auditorium as the E.F. Eugene Francis Sanguinetti Auditorium. Chairman proclaims the dedication during opening remarks and read the proclamation honoring Sanguinetti’s contributions as a developer, merchant and civic leader.

Pilkington Construction President Clint Harrington, whose firm led the project, said the auditorium was built “with the community in mind” and credited local architects, engineers and subcontractors for the facility’s design and construction. Family members of E.F. Sanguinetti attended the ceremony; a relative recounted the family history and thanked the board for the honor.

The proclamation and accompanying remarks stressed the auditorium’s purpose as a permanent reminder of Sanguinetti’s “vision, leadership and dedication” to Yuma County. County officials invited staff and community partners to pose for commemorative photographs and signaled plans to install a plaque and a portrait near the auditorium entrance so visitors can learn why the space bears Sanguinetti’s name.

The board used the occasion to highlight the building’s role in supporting public participation and county services. A short recorded presentation from Pilkington and the project’s design team described the auditorium as a modern, accessible space intended to increase transparency and public engagement.

No formal policy action accompanied the dedication; the board proceeded to regular business following the ceremony.
