Student representative: Beauregard Parish schools report strong start, student awards and field trips

Palermo also described hands‑on STEM learning for fifth graders who attended Starbase Academy at Fort Polk, arts participation by South Forkard High students at the Henning Museum in Sulphur, and media coverage of elementary‑school opening day on KPLC TV. She noted community partnerships, including Zeta Phi Beta Sorority donating school supplies to a junior high via an "adopt a school" initiative.
The student representative singled out several individual recognitions: fourth grader Blair Stewart was selected by the police chief for a National Night Out role, and DeRidder High student Aiden Andrews was commended by Transportation Director David Wenzel for staying with a bus driver after an Aug. 11 incident to help ensure student safety.
Palermo closed by previewing athletics and fall events, including a season opener scheduled for Sept. 5 at Cecil Doyle Memorial Stadium. The report was received by the board with thanks to Palermo and district staff.
