Arlington council approves consent items, lease extension, procurement and annual docket

The Arlington City Council approved a package of routine actions including consent items, a long-term parking-lease amendment with Arlington United Church, a cooperative purchasing agreement with King County and adoption of the city's 2026 annual docket.

Lease amendment: Paul explained that the back portion of the merchant parking lot on Third Avenue is split between the church and the city and that the city has long leased use of the church's half. The proposed first amendment would extend the city's lease for another 20 years. Paul said the city conducts maintenance, including sweeping and a recent repaving, and that "no money changes hands" under the arrangement; the council approved the motion to authorize the mayor to sign.

Cooperative purchasing: Paul said the city would join a King County cooperative purchasing contract to acquire light poles at a favorable price rather than conducting a separate bid. The council approved authorizing the mayor to sign the agreement.

Annual docket: Amy, a planning staff member, presented the proposed 2026 final annual docket, describing 18 city-initiated proposals — one rezone and 17 code amendments. The council adopted the resolution to approve the docket and authorized the mayor to sign.

Votes: Each item was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote with no opposition heard.
