The Cudahy City Council ratified a resolution on Oct. 21 that affirms the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors’ proclamation of a local emergency in response to federal immigration actions.
City attorney’s office presented the resolution and staff noted that the county declared a state of emergency on Oct. 14. Councilmember Lomeli proposed adding a recital citing data from the Los Angeles Unified School District Local District 5 showing measurable reductions in enrollment and attendance affecting Cudahy students; the council approved including that language in the resolution.
Council approved the resolution by roll call. City staff said the measure signals the city’s position and helps clarify supports for local institutions, though the county proclamation covers incorporated areas including Cudahy.
