Norfolk County honors RSVP coordinator Christopher Goldsmith as he retires after 10 years

The Norfolk County Commission formally acknowledged the retirement of Christopher Goldsmith, the RSVP volunteer program coordinator, and voted to accept his retirement during the Oct. 8 meeting.
Commissioner (speaker 4) read a notice of retirement stating the effective date of 10/10/2025. Commissioners and staff offered appreciation: Lucille, who said Goldsmith had been a mentor since she joined in February, thanked him for helping her transition into the role. Multiple commissioners and staff recounted Goldsmith’s impact on veterans’ rides, school programs and food-insecurity efforts.
Goldsmith reflected on his time with the program, saying, “It's been a pleasure serving the county for all 10 of it.” He added that he plans to remain involved as a volunteer: “I'm not leaving. I'm just changing shape.”
A motion to accept the retirement was made and seconded; the commission voted by voice to approve the retirement and offered final thanks and best wishes to Goldsmith.
The commission also dedicated the Oct. 8 meeting to Goldsmith’s service and noted plans to continue support for the RSVP program going forward.
