Norfolk County Commission approves payroll warrants, hires RSVP temporary and locks three-year electricity rate

The Norfolk County Commission approved payroll and expense warrants and awarded two contracts at its Oct. 8 meeting.
Commissioners approved a payroll warrant for $225,559.04, an expense warrant for $377,679.27 and a credit card payment of $47,498 after motions were made, seconded and carried by voice vote. Chair (Joe) recorded the actions on the warrants during the open session.
Maureen from the procurement department presented two contract awards. The first authorizes hiring Andrew Laberge as a temporary contractor for the RSVP program for up to 37.5 hours per week at $20 per hour, to commence Oct. 4, 2025, with total compensation not to exceed $6,000. "We have 2 contracts today," Maureen said as she introduced the items.
The second contract is a three-year electricity supply agreement brokered through Mantis Energy at a fixed rate of $0.1387 per kilowatt-hour, effective Nov. 1, 2025, through Oct. 31, 2028. Commissioner (speaker 4) described the rate as “a great deal.” Both contracts were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The commission’s procurement report and the warrant approvals were routine business items on the agenda and carried without recorded roll-call tallies.
The commission adjourned after completing these actions and other agenda items.
