Assembly Vice President Cooper moved to rescind the ordinance’s final action, arguing that amendments adopted at the prior meeting had produced unintended consequences by removing references to the senior exemption and effectively capping combined exemptions. "I move to rescind final action of ordinance 2025-21 that was enacted as amended," Cooper said at the podium during the unfinished-business portion of the meeting.
Supporters of the rescission said the parliamentary remedy was necessary to fix drafting errors quickly and transparently. Mayor Michicky told the assembly that rescission followed the guidance of Mason’s Manual and would allow the body to "clean the air" and correct language…
