Residents urge council to study golf‑cart rules and revive community food drive

Another resident, Cindy Nam Warren, said local organizations including Columbia United Methodist Church, South Shelby Lodge, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints, Shelby Baptist Association and the Girl Scouts are working to restart a neighborhood food drive. Volunteers will distribute brown paper donation bags on Jan. 31 with pickup planned for Feb. 7; donations will be sorted at the Methodist Church and delivered to the Shelby Baptist Association.
Council members thanked volunteers and said staff and the police chief will be consulted on how to pursue the golf‑cart study; police offered to serve as a drop‑off point for food donations if needed.
