The Beresford City Council approved a package of infrastructure expenditures on routine motions taken during the Sept. 8 meeting.
SCADA upgrades: The council authorized up to $30,000 to upgrade SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) monitoring on four lift stations and the water tower, including an estimated recurring license fee of about $40 per site per month (approximately $200/month total). Staff said the upgrades would provide remote alarms and historical logging to reduce the risk of unnoticed pump failures.
Contract payments and change orders: Council approved Pay Request #18 to Siteworks for wastewater treatment improvements in the amount of $125,000 and accepted Change Order #5 to Siteworks, a $3,850 deduction for punch-list items. Council also approved Pay Request #4 to Metro Construction for $15,667.20 and Change Order #3 to Metro (drain tile/road subgrade work) for $39,447. Musson Brothers’ Pay Request #3 for sanitary sewer work was approved for $266,792.06, and the council authorized Change Order #2 to Musson Brothers to add approximately 2,700 feet of 8-inch lining and related work for $157,547.50. A separate change order to First Rate Excavation for a 7th Street area drain was approved at $10,744.
Most motions were approved by voice vote with the chair calling for “ayes” and the clerk recording the motions as carried. Staff said there is funding in the project packages to cover the change-order additions. Council members emphasized minimizing disruptions and the importance of reducing risk of sewer or drainage failures.
Next steps: Staff will coordinate final invoices and contract closeouts and return any items requiring additional formal contract approvals to a future meeting.
