The Bay City Commission voted to approve a resolution granting Acrocast Inc. a 12-year industrial facilities tax exemption certificate for an estimated $170,838 in tax benefits.
During a public hearing, resident Paul Kleino asked whether an environmental review had been performed and whether the facility posed any noise or other risks. City staff (Sarah) told the commission the city does not require an environmental impact study for a project of this size and that the planned expansion is primarily storage and robotic equipment rather than chemical storage. Commissioners who toured the facility described it as a low-volume, investment-casting foundry with no expected environmental hazards.
Commissioner Tenney moved to approve the resolution and Commissioner Coakley seconded. After discussion the clerk called the roll and the motion carried; the transcript records the motion as adopted. The commission encouraged residents to view the operation and noted the applicants stated intent to be neighborhood-friendly and to create additional jobs.
