The Taos Town Council voted Jan. 28 to award a furniture-purchase contract for the Taos Regional Airport terminal to vendor Element Slate for $159,759.82, exclusive of New Mexico gross-receipts tax.
Procurement staff said Element Slate submitted the most comprehensive proposal and that the revised delivery schedule aligns with the updated terminal construction timeframe; staff said vendor scheduling and construction contingency should avoid storage fees because delivery coincides with terminal readiness. Staff also said the final dollar total may be slightly lower once fabric selections are finalized and that funds would come from the terminal construction match/contingency line (line item 5210).
Council asked about budget routing and taxes; staff confirmed the procurement workflow included finance review and that furniture is not subject to gross-receipts tax under the town's purchasing language. The council recorded a unanimous roll call in favor: Council Member Fambro ' yes; Council Member Oswald ' yes; Council Member Ortega ' yes; Council Member Fernandez ' yes. The town also announced a tentative Feb. 19 groundbreaking date for the terminal project.
No additional appropriations were taken at the meeting; staff said the appropriation would be covered by the construction contingency and existing project budget.
