Danny outlined two primary grant tracks: a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) that the council could use for cemetery work or park improvements, and an OHV trails grant that requires a 10% local match and could be pursued in collaboration with Emery County. "We were gonna try to do it for the cemetery," Danny said, and he encouraged the council to gather ideas for park improvements, all‑abilities playground upgrades and restroom/kitchen repairs that could qualify.
For housing, Danny proposed using a city‑owned property near the baseball complex for affordable or low‑to‑moderate income housing if the site qualifies under an income survey. "We would have to get an income survey done, which is free," he said; staff agreed that an income survey would reduce local match requirements and help determine eligibility for LMI funding.
Councilmembers also discussed a recreation grant that could be paired with an existing $10,000 local commitment for a pickleball court project, for example to add shade structures. Danny said a CDBG committee representative has offered to meet with the council to review ideas.
Council agreed to form a committee to refine grant proposals, pursue an income survey, and coordinate with potential partners and grant writers; no final grant applications were approved at the meeting.
