Summary
Council unanimously approved PZ case 25‑21 to rezone 7205 Hudson Village Creek Road from C‑2 to industrial; staff said the request aligns with the future land‑use plan and Planning & Zoning recommended approval.
The Kennedale City Council voted unanimously on Jan. 20 to approve an application to rezone 7205 Hudson Village Creek Road (PZ case 25‑21) from C‑2 (general commercial) to industrial.
Ed McPhroy, director of community development, presented an aerial map and staff analysis and said the property is consistent with the city's future land‑use plan. He told council that the Planning & Zoning Commission reviewed the request and recommended approval unanimously and that staff had received no public comments in opposition.
Council members had limited discussion; no substantive conditions were added. A motion to approve ordinance number 793 (PZ 25‑21) passed unanimously.
The zoning change removes a regulatory barrier to industrial use at the listed parcel and brings the property into consistency with surrounding industrial zoning and the comprehensive plan. Staff noted the site is adjacent to other industrially zoned parcels and that the proposed use is not expected to trigger additional drainage or traffic mitigation beyond standard permitting requirements.
Council recorded the unanimous approval of ordinance 793 and moved on to other items on the agenda. The rezoning will allow the applicant and future property owners to pursue industrial redevelopment subject to standard site‑plan and permit review.
