The Brown Deer Village Board unanimously approved Resolution 25‑12 to rescind a portion of a mid‑20th‑century plat that required exterior home construction materials in the County Line Estates subdivision to be stone, brick, masonry or wood.
Staff explained the restriction was adopted decades ago and that newer siding products such as vinyl or cement board can offer comparable durability and appearance. "As building materials have evolved over the years, we know now that there are materials that are pretty comparable in terms of durability and quality that are outside those parameters," a staff presenter said while outlining the proposed rescission.
Under the resolution, the board rescinds the language in section 7.c of the plat agreement while leaving all other plat requirements in place. Staff noted any exterior changes would remain subject to applicable village codes and architectural review.
The resolution was moved, seconded and adopted by roll-call vote with each trustee recorded as voting 'Aye.' No amendments were made at the meeting.
