Board Accepts Gifts, Approves Grants and Personnel Reports; Retains Principals at Low-Performing Schools

Board members moved and seconded a motion to accept the CTE grant. The board approved the grant by voice vote. Beth said the position funded by the grant is already in the budget and that the award will provide relief from earlier cuts.
Later in the meeting, the board approved the certified and classified personnel reports and voted to retain the current principals at 12 low-performing schools after discussion. These personnel votes were recorded by voice; no roll-call tallies were included in the meeting transcript.
Board members also reviewed a contracts report showing an EC nursing contract (Baya Nursing, $8,000) and discussed a facility-naming request for the Southwestern Randolph High School weight room (JD and Claire Davis); the naming request will return to the board at a subsequent meeting under board policy for facility names.
