St. Vrain Sanitation District briefs Frederick trustees on system size, expansion and local service

St. Vrain Sanitation District representatives spoke to the Town of Frederick Board of Trustees Feb. 11 about the district’s operations, service area and capital program.
Chris (district manager) described the district as a Title 32 special district serving communities including Dacono, Frederick and Firestone and portions of Mead, Longmont and unincorporated Weld County. He said the system includes roughly 15,250 taps, about 250 miles of collection pipe and about 6,000 active manholes. "Our current monthly residential bill is $34 billed quarterly," Chris said, later adding that the district treated approximately 1.3 billion gallons last year and is permitted for 6 million gallons per day with plans to upgrade to 8 million.
He reviewed recent capital work (four major expansions since 1986) and current projects: an influent pump station upgrade, ultraviolet treatment upgrades to reach 8 mgd, collection-system equipment purchases, field collection team staffing and a planned Little Dry Creek lift station in Dacono. He also listed local developments the district is tracking in Frederick, including the new Public Works building, a new high school, Silverstone Marketplace, Penrose, Columbine Heights and Wheatland subdivisions.
Trustees thanked the presenter and noted appreciation for the district's coordination with town planning and permitting staff as the district builds local infrastructure.
