Council members also questioned a proposal to increase a nearby cell tower’s height—discussants estimated roughly an additional 100 feet. One council member said the upgrade is likely service related: “T Mobile and then, just, additional equipment to further ramp up service on the campus,” and noted the tower must meet required setbacks from residential areas; another member said they opposed the item at the planning commission stage.
The pre-meeting did not include a council vote on rezoning or tower modifications; those items were listed for future consideration and a public hearing was scheduled. Council members asked for clarifications and proposed procedural amendments but took no formal action at the pre-meeting.
