Staff: LEPP grant funds allow three more septic repairs; county to accept applications

County staff told the board Jan. 21 that three more property owners applied for septic-system repairs or replacements under the LEPP grant, including properties on Rock Creek, Nevada Road and Labette Road.
The staff presentation explained the county had about $4,683 remaining of a $50,000 allocation but recently received a new $75,000 disbursement, enabling approval of additional applications. "So the 50,000, we're down to about $4,683, but we just received our newest, bundle of $75,000," the staff member said, adding that once the initial funds are exhausted the county will draw on the new award.
Staff requested verbal agreement from the board to proceed with transferring state funds to property owners for necessary repairs or replacements, noting programs may include full replacements where systems are failing or 'daylighting' at the surface. The commissioners voiced general support during the meeting and staff said they had room to accept approximately three more applications under current projections.
