County staff presented the annual contract, saying it provides Pomona a minimum of 40 hours of dedicated law-enforcement patrol service and allows county deputies to respond to the city’s calls for service. "We cannot enforce city ordinances without this being in place," staff said, explaining that the city reimburses the county for the salary and benefits of one sheriff's deputy.
The staff presentation noted the contract amount matches comparable agreements (for example, school-resource-officer contracts) that cover salary and benefits. The board moved and seconded approval; roll-call responses recorded a majority of yes votes and the motion passed.
No amendments or additional conditions were recorded on the contract during the meeting; staff said the contract expires at the end of the year and is part of the county's routine intergovernmental service agreements.
