Buildings & Grounds committee votes to forward proposal to end city EV‑charger program

At a Buildings & Grounds Committee meeting on Nov. 24, staff reported that the city’s slow EV charging stations were operating at a year‑to‑date fiscal loss and recommended the committee decide whether to subsidize the program through the software contract period or end the program and refer the matter to the full council. The staff figure for the fiscal year‑to‑date loss was $156.18.
A member moved to eliminate the electrical charging stations program and forward the proposal to the City Council for full review. The motion was seconded, put to a voice vote and carried unanimously.
Staff noted the current software contract is paid through April 30 and that ending the program would reduce ongoing subsidy needs but that members should decide whether to act immediately or allow council to make the final decision.
