Minnetonka Planning Commission approves sign plan, backs two subdivisions and zoning change on interim uses

The Minnetonka Planning Commission on June 5 adopted a sign plan for the development formerly called Marsh Run 2 and recommended the City Council approve two separate two‑lot subdivisions and an amendment to the zoning ordinance governing interim uses.

The actions matter because they clear the way for two new single‑family lots in established neighborhoods, authorize a floodplain alteration and easement changes on another parcel, and change how the city may treat temporary uses — potentially making it easier for reasonable short‑term uses to be permitted without creating permanent zoning entitlements.

On the consent calendar the commission adopted a resolution approving the sign plan for Vail (formerly Marsh Run 2) at 11816 Wayzata Boulevard. The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Commissioner Minyon and seconded by Commissioner Banks and carried unanimously. Planning staff noted that an appeal of the commission’s final decision must be filed in writing with city staff within 10 days of the meeting.

On separate nonconsent items the commission voted unanimously to recommend the City Council approve the preliminary and final plats for two subdivision proposals.
