Resident urges county enforcement over alleged unpermitted operations near County Road 30

At the Aug. 12 meeting, John Zimmerman of 855 County Road 30 told the Moffat County commissioners that a site he described as a "second county dump" on County Road 30 is harming property values and appearing to host unpermitted mechanic work.
Zimmerman said the site, which he identified as belonging to "Gordon Birch," is roughly between 0.4 and 0.8 miles from the highway, and said neighboring property values have fallen "at least $35,000 to $45,000" because of the site's condition. "We need some help," Zimmerman told the board. "I figure that my property values, regardless of what the county has as of right now, are worth significantly less, at least 35 to $45,000 less value than they were."
Zimmerman told commissioners he had spoken with multiple people and believed mechanical work has been performed at the site without permits; he said he could not swear to it but that there are "no permits whatsoever for that kind of activity in that location." He asked the commissioners to enforce existing rules or to adopt new ones if enforcement tools are insufficient.
Commissioners acknowledged receipt of the concern and thanked Zimmerman for raising it. The transcript records no formal enforcement action or motion by the board during the meeting; Zimmerman said he and other neighbors did not want to escalate to a confrontation but sought county protection and follow-up.
