Commissioners identified education as a priority area — specifically Irish studies programs, university partnerships and potential community‑college exchanges and internships. Professor Christine Keneally (Quinnipiac University) agreed to help develop examples of education programs and offered to present at a future meeting.
Commissioners also proposed subcommittees for trade (to address business outreach and tariff questions, including confusion about drinks and spirits tariffs) and for investment (to evaluate pitches like the Northern Ireland Growth Fund and plan outreach to state treasury/pension officials). The commission set a tentative next meeting in September and asked staff to circulate a draft list of subcommittee topics and to solicit volunteers from commission members.
