County recognizes monthly Employee Excellence award recipients across departments

The board read citations and presented certificates to recipients including Cynthia Murray (Clerk of the Board, board clerk II), Juan Guzman (library assistant, Gilroy Library), Diana Orozco (forensic biology, crime lab — citation read on her behalf), Chris Nguyen (business systems analyst, Technology Services and Solutions — citation read on his behalf), Daniel Yemas (coordinator, Concealed Carry Weapons program, Sheriff's Office), James Elliott McIntosh (senior biologist and standards specialist, Weights and Measures), Pedro Hernandez (senior accountant, Senior Nutrition Program, Department of Aging and Adult Services), Catherine Cummings (ambulatory services manager, Santa Clara Valley Health), and Vi Nguyen (senior management analyst, Behavioral Health Services finance).
The board described individual accomplishments: Murray for training and organizational improvement in the Clerk of the Board office; Guzman for bilingual patron service and crisis response at Gilroy Library; Orozco for complex forensic DNA analysis; Nguyen for supporting a major PeopleSoft ERP onboarding and developing process improvements; Yemas for improvements to the CCW application process and rollout of online application software; Elliott McIntosh for establishing the county's EV charger testing program and readiness after state legislation (Assembly Bill 2037); Pedro Hernandez for audit and accounting leadership in the senior nutrition program; Cummings for leadership in ambulatory services and launching triage and advice primary care programs; and Vi Nguyen for building financial workflows that improved Medi‑Cal recoveries for behavioral health.
All recipients posed for a group photograph with the board. The awards were ceremonial recognitions; no policy or funding decisions were made as part of the presentations.
