The Box Elder County Commissioners approved Agreement 25-61 to terminate the existing District 1 Mental Health Authority, which historically involved Box Elder, Cache and Rich counties, so Box Elder can proceed with a new mental health authority arrangement coordinated with the Bear River Health Department.
Commissioner Perry introduced the item, explaining the county has been working with the Bear River Health Department and that termination of the District 1 authority was required to proceed with the new local structure. Perry said: "...we now have to terminate that District 1 mental health authority in order for us to go forward with the plan that we've been working on, to create [a new mental health authority]... and working with the Bear River Health Department."
Commissioner Perry moved to approve Agreement 25-61 to terminate the District 1 Mental Health Authority; the motion was seconded and carried on a voice vote. The agreement was approved without further detail in the meeting record and with no fiscal amounts reported in the public discussion.
County staff will proceed with steps necessary to transition to the new mental-health governance arrangement with the Bear River Health Department.
