The Redondo Beach City Council held a public hearing on the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) annual action plan for fiscal year 2025–26 and approved staff’s recommended allocations on July 22.
Joyce Lee, the city’s CDBG consultant, and Elizabeth House, Community Services Director, told council the city expects to receive approximately $295,606 in CDBG funds for the coming program year and that statutory limits restrict no more than 15% of allocations to public service agencies and no more than 20% for administration and fair‑housing services. Staff recommended funding five public service organizations that provide services for seniors, people with disabilities, victims of domestic violence, unsheltered individuals and other low‑income residents; the staff recommendations were the product of the city’s annual notice of funding availability and prior partnerships with recurring applicants.
No members of the public rose to comment during the hearing; staff reported a 30‑day public review period had already been completed. After council closed the public hearing, council voted to adopt the annual action plan and to accept staff’s public‑service funding recommendations. The motion to close the hearing and adopt the plan passed on a unanimous voice vote among those present.
Staff said the action plan will be submitted on time for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) submittal deadline (staff indicated an August 16 filing target). Allocations and contracts with the selected agencies will be finalized through the city’s standard grant‑management and contracting processes.
