The court approved a three-year renewal with Flare Data Systems under cooperative contract DIR‑CPO‑5347 for Cisco Webex (calling services) at a total of $116,270.26 (annual payments of $38,756.75). County staff said the expense is budgeted through the Sheriff’s Office.
The court also approved a lease agreement with American National Leasing for 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4 police pursuit vehicles for the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office. The total lease amount recorded in the agenda was $504,323.65; the financing structure presented includes a $16,000 down payment per vehicle, a four‑year lease and a stated interest rate of 5.93%. The Sheriff’s Office indicated vehicles have been delivered to the upfitter for equipment installation and will be available upon completion of the upfit. County staff noted that upfit equipment accounts for a substantial portion of each unit’s cost.
Finally, the court approved purchase of an above‑ground storage tank and associated dispensing, monitoring and leak detection equipment for the Precinct 2 facility from JF Petroleum Group under BuyBoard contract #673‑22 for $383,300. The purchase includes a fuel-dispensing unit and Veeder-Root automatic tank gauge with leak detection and is presented as TCEQ‑compliant equipment that increases on-site fuel capacity and improves tracking of shared fuel usage.
Votes: All three purchasing items passed unanimously following standard motions and seconds.
Why it matters: The approvals cover routine operational expenses—communication services, law enforcement fleet renewal, and fuel infrastructure upgrades—that county departments identified as budgeted needs. The vehicle leases in particular include upfit work that enables immediate deployment once equipment is installed.
