Edmond Public Schools Board approved the final reading of policy DHA (related to access to security cameras and acceptable use of district technology) after reviewing language refinements and attorney input.
Administrators said the policy had been reviewed in previous meetings and one change added language to the unacceptable-use section to prohibit employees from utilizing technology or accessing platforms or information for reasons inconsistent with their job descriptions or responsibilities without authorization for personal reasons. During discussion a board member asked about phrasing on page 4 referencing "wiretapping and electronic security of [blank] communications," and staff said the attorneys had provided the language and that the intended term was "listening" or similar electronic-security wording; staff offered to check the source language but the board chose not to delay the final reading.
Board members acknowledged the draft had been reviewed multiple times and agreed to approve final reading rather than keeping it as a first reading. The motion to make the policy final passed unanimously on roll call.
