On June 26 the Douglas County School District Board of Trustees approved several consent items that will shape services and educational options for students next year.
The board approved a three‑year tuition agreement with Alpine County (a pre‑K–8 district without a high school) that sets a single average per‑pupil tuition rate for Alpine students who attend Douglas County high schools and renews an established arrangement. Trustees said the agreement reduces redundancy by moving to a multi‑year term.
Trustees also approved a memorandum of understanding with Douglas County Parks & Recreation to provide transportation of students to after‑school Parks & Rec programs; the agreement includes a mileage reimbursement arrangement and automatically renews annually unless terminated with 30 days’ notice.
The board approved dual‑enrollment affiliation agreements with the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) and Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) to allow local students to earn college credit; staff noted only a small number of students currently travel to UNR (1–2 students reported) and that the agreements formalize processes for the future. Trustees also approved a set of dual‑credit course additions for state approval and asked staff to continue work with the Nevada Department of Education and higher‑education partners on course listings.
Each item was approved by unanimous voice vote during the consent portion of the meeting. District staff said the agreements will be posted with board records and implemented by relevant departments.
