North Las Vegas City Council approves budget augmentation, zoning reclassification and equipment donation; several appointments confirmed

The North Las Vegas City Council on June 18 approved a $127.3 million augmentation to its 2024–25 budget, reclassified a 1.71‑acre parcel for an urban agriculture use, and authorized donation of decommissioned fire equipment to a nonprofit volunteer fire group, among other actions.

Council adopted Resolution No. 27,41 approving the budget augmentation after a staff presentation explaining that the adjustment reflects grants and capital project rollovers. Justin O’Brien, budget manager for North Las Vegas, told the council, “Budget augmentation is something, that we present to council every year as required by NRS.” The staff presentation said roughly 79% of the $127.3 million augmentation relates to grants and proprietary capital rollovers; staff described the item as a routine compliance action required by state law.

The council also approved a zoning reclassification (ZN‑042025) and related Ordinance No. 32,47 to add an urban agriculture designation for 1.71 acres. An applicant representative, Mark Mulhall, told the council the property has been in place since 1979 and said the reclassification would not change operations or increase traffic.
