The Liberty County Commissioners on Tuesday approved several election- and county-clerk-related purchases and authorized applying for state HAVA grant funds to help cover them.
County Clerk staff said the state requires replacement of outdated poll pads that were purchased in 2019. The court approved a purchase of 35 replacement poll pads from Hart InterCivic and associated vendors for $38,500; clerk staff said the county expects a State of Texas grant that could reimburse most of the cost. The court also approved a one-time license purchase for special ballot redaction software (to protect voter-identifying information in public responding to open-records requests) for $2,487.50, plus $5,200 for installation/training and $2,125 in annual support; the clerk said the county will seek reimbursement through the same state grant program.
The court approved procurement of four replacement laptops for the county clerk's office ($3,730.76) from records-management funds and authorized purchasing a duplicate public-notice kiosk for the Cleveland Annex ($9,829.76) from records-management funds.
Clerk staff said the county is eligible for about $42,500 under the secretary-of-state grant program; the county would provide a 20% match. The court approved a resolution to apply for the grant; the clerk indicated the grant application deadline was imminent, and the award is expected August 1.
All items were approved by majority vote; motions carried.
