Planning and Zoning Commission recommends rezone for River Park addition after developer revises plat

The Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4-2 to recommend that the City Council approve a rezone and the developer’s revised plat for the River Park addition, following a presentation from Van Buskirk Companies and questions from commissioners about fire access, truck traffic and setbacks.

The commission’s action followed a redesigned layout in which the developer moved the commercial driveways to the outer edges of the parcel, consolidated four residential lots together and reduced the number of commercial lots from five to four. “We eliminated the driveway in the middle of the four residential parcels,” Jordan Heffner with Van Buskirk Companies said, describing the revisions presented to the commission.

The vote sends the item to the City Council for final action. Patrick (city staff) told the commission that “the city council passed it as a reading with the hope that you all would give them a revised recommendation based on the new layout,” and the commission then voted to forward the revised plan.
