Millis Recreation outlines summer programming; Select Board approves Run Back to School race

Recreation Director Chris Fogarty and program coordinator Erin LeBlanc presented the department's summer lineup during the municipal moment at the June 9 Select Board meeting and the Board approved the Millis Boosters' Run Back to School race.
Fogarty described key events: the town carnival at Town Park, scheduled June 26'29 with fireworks on the evening of June 28 (around 9:30 p.m.); the Father's Day Fishing Derby at South End Pond on June 15; goat yoga and a children's story time with the Goats of Dover on June 21; expanded daily recreation options including full-day combinations with third-party programs ("Wicked Cool for Kids" science options) and a summer concert series at the bandstand every Wednesday in August.
Fogarty said fireworks are supported by a specific gift fund and that the town has met its fundraising goal for the display. He encouraged residents to consult the recreation website and brochure for registration and ticketing.
The Select Board then approved the Millis Boosters' Run Back to School event for Sunday, Sept. 28 from 7 a.m. to noon, coordinated with police, fire, DPW and schools. Race director Allison Maurer said the run has grown to more than 200 participants and organizers plan crowd-management adjustments to streamline arrival and flow.
Ending: Recreation staff said summer programs are set, with counselors and lead staff in place for camp, and the board thanked the department for a broad lineup of family events.
