Parents urge board to keep Stony Creek Elementary open and fully staffed amid recent teacher reassignments

She said she was concerned by teachers and teacher assistants being moved to other elementary schools and by leadership questions about whether Stony Creek should remain open.
Casey Evans, a media specialist at Sunny Creek who identified herself as having students at Stony Creek, said staffing changes could lead to large class sizes next year and described testing duties limiting her ability to serve as a media specialist. Adam Evans echoed parents’ worries about a kindergarten class increasing from about 18 students toward the mid-20s or more if staffing reductions continue.
A separate speaker asked the board for an update on the dismissal of a staff member (noted as occurring April 14) and expressed broader concern about superintendent turnover and the district’s handling of personnel matters.
Board members did not announce formal action on Stony Creek during the meeting. Public commenters requested that the board, county leaders and district staff resolve staffing issues and preserve small class sizes at the school.
