Select Board ratifies multiple appointments and summer hires

The Select Board on June 9 ratified a series of personnel appointments across town departments, approving recommendations from department heads and the town administrator.
Police: On the town administrator's recommendation and the police chief's request, the board ratified appointments of traffic supervisors consisting of a mix of retired officers and communications staff: retired Sergeant William Dwyer, Robin Cahill, Garren Eiseley, Liana Ladola, Tegan LeBlanc and Nicholas Oligio.
Public works: The board ratified the appointment of Ethan Lazar as a Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) laborer pending a successful physical and with the condition that a 2B hoisting license and CDL Class B be obtained within one year. The board also ratified summer DPW hires (Aiden Ludwig and Brendan Ludwig) as summer workers pending physicals.
Inspections and building services: The board ratified Christopher Kenny as alternate building commissioner effective July 1 and ratified Steven Frasca as deputy plumbing and gas inspector, pending successful physicals.
Library and recreation: The board ratified on-call library assistants (Newton Matthew and Hannah Rochelle) and a slate of summer recreation staff and lead counselors (including Molly Graham, Amelia Carr, Amanda Fallon and a list of youth counselors) and approved required background checks and active-work permits where applicable.
Fire department: The board ratified an appointment of Catherine Dowling as an on-call firefighter/intern pending successful physical and CORI checks; the internship will include EMT training and work on the town's emergency management plan.
All the motions were moved, seconded and approved unanimously.
Ending: Departments said the hires will allow summer recreation and DPW seasons to proceed and expand municipal services; several appointments are conditional on physical exams, licenses or active work permits.
