White told commissioners she looked forward to building on the work of her predecessor and partnering with commissioners on parks access and capital upkeep.
Jay Fink, who joined the county after service as deputy director of public works for Miami Beach and prior municipal experience, was confirmed as director of the county's Water and Sewer Department. Commissioners praised the department's ongoing capital program. Fink said he was "humbled" to lead the utility that serves roughly 2.8 million residents and pledged to work with staff to maintain operations and continue infrastructure modernization.
Both appointments were taken up as mayoral appointments and confirmed by the commission. White and Fink each made a short statement at the podium and posed for photos with commissioners.
